The Broan 98 also comes fitted with an optional fresh air intake that can be connected to an outdoor air duct to provide additional ventilation. When determining where to install your dehumidifier, here are a few things to consider. Youll need sufficient clearance to handle the overall dimensions of the dehumidifier along with the return and supply ductwork for the unit. Youll also need enough clearance for filter removal and to prevent airflow from being obstructed.

To service the unit, youll need to be able to remove a side panel. Make sure theres enough clearance on a side of the unit to do so. Put the humidifier in an area where the cords length (9 feet) reaches an electrical outlet with a minimum 15-amp circuit capacity.

Put the dehumidifier in an area where field wiring the control is possible, and use a backdraft damper in the discharge duct of the dehumidifier (especially if youre connecting to the supply ducting system). This damper will prevent supply air from counter-flowing through the dehumidifier when its not in operation. Make sure you allow enough space to install this accessory if needed.

You can suspend the dehumidifier from structures with steel hanger straps or a suitable alternative, as long as the assembly supports the base in its entirety. Do not hang the dehumidifier from its cabinet. Allow proper routing and drainage of drain pipes.
